Johnny Depp has emerged victorious from Amber Heard’s defamation trial. Unlike his ex-wife, he was not present in court.

It is an unequivocal verdict that the seven-member jury in Virginia reached: They found Amber Heard guilty of defamation. She slandered her ex-husband in several paragraphs of her opinion piece in The Washington Post.

Johnny Depp wins against Amber Heard

The jury awarded Depp $15 million in damages. Amber Heard also achieved a small partial success in her counterclaim. She was awarded two million.

While Amber Heard sat in the courtroom listening to the jury point by point saying they had defamed Depp, the actor was across the pond, in England. He was spotted by fans in a pub in Newcastle on the afternoon English time, where he was greeted warmly and smiled himself. A video of the brief encounter then circulated on Twitter.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star has been in the UK for a few days, where he is supporting his good friend, musician Jeff Beck, at several concerts. Two concerts from Beck’s tour took place in the legendary Royal Albert Hall in London. Kate Moss of all people is said to have been there on Tuesday evening. The supermodel testified for Depp in court last week.

Depp had already planned performances

Johnny Depp missed the verdict in the USA – to the astonishment of some process observers. After all, the actor had been there every day of the trial.

Why did he decide not to witness the most important day live? “Pre-agreed commitments,” he said. The process was originally designed to last six weeks, but it ultimately took seven weeks. So it may well be that Depp missed the verdict.

Johnny Depp should ultimately be the same. He can triumph after tough weeks of trial. And in England there should be plenty of opportunities to celebrate his victory.
