It has already been speculated that it should be so far this Wednesday. Johnny Depp’s supermodel and ex-girlfriend is reportedly set to testify in court. The actor himself, on the other hand, can remain silent about the allegations.

It was one of the most poignant scenes in the defamation trial between the Hollywood stars to date: When Amber Heard brought up Kate Moss in her testimony in court, Johnny Depp’s lawyer raised his fist and smiled as if he had only been waiting for it. It was quickly speculated that Heard had made a mistake in mentioning Depp’s ex-girlfriend. Instead of giving her own statement that she had only become violent in self-defense, she played into the hands of the opposing team. And that Moss could potentially become an asset to Depp’s legal team in the trial should she take the stand on the actor’s behalf. Speculations that now seem to be confirmed.

According to a report by the “New York Post”, Moss is to testify in court today and be connected via video. The 48-year-old was in a relationship with the Hollywood beau for several years in the mid-90s. It was a tumultuous relationship with many lows. Nevertheless, Depp and Moss are said to have had a friendly relationship with each other for years after the separation. Moss is known for keeping her personal life extremely private. If she actually changes this for Depp and testifies, that could be decisive for the case.

Moss is then expected to deny Heard’s claim that Depp pushed the model down the stairs during an argument during their relationship, putting the rumors to rest. An opportunity that would not have presented itself to Depp’s lawyers if Heard had not brought the model back into play himself. Depp’s lawyers had already accused the 36-year-old Heard of just making up the incident.

Will Kate Moss turn the tide in the Johnny Depp trial?

Originally, Heard’s legal team planned to ask Johnny Depp to testify again in court. This project now seems to be passé. At least that’s what the “People” magazine reports. Accordingly, a source close to Heard confirmed to the magazine that the lawyers had now rowed back in this regard, as they now considered further statements by Depp to be “irrelevant”.

Johnny Depp has sued Amber Heard for $50 million over a 2018 post she published in The Washington Post. In it, she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence. She did not mention her ex-husband by name. Depp claims the post nonetheless ruined his career, damaged his reputation and cost him a lot of money as a result. Heard has filed a $100 million counterclaim against her ex.

Closing speeches are scheduled for May 27th. The jury then has to reach a verdict.
