FC Schalke 04 has apparently completed its search for a coach. Frank Kramer succeeds Mike Büskens as coach of the newly promoted Bundesliga team.

Bundesliga promoted FC Schalke 04 has apparently found a new coach after weeks of searching. As several media report unanimously, Frank Kramer will be the new trainer for the Royal Blues. The official launch is scheduled for Tuesday.

The good relationship between Schalke’s sports director Rouwen Schröder and Kramer is said to be decisive, both know each other from their times together at Greuther Fürth.

Frank Kramer most recently worked for Arminia Bielefeld

Kramer was last a trainer at Arminia Bielefeld from March 2021, but was fired at Ostwestfalen in the final phase of the past season. However, Bielefeld could no longer avert relegation after that. The 50-year-old had previously worked as a youth coach in Salzburg and with the DFB.

At Schalke, Kramer succeeds promotion coach Mike Büskens. After the dismissal of Dimitrios Grammozis, he had taken over the coaching position at Schalke on an interim basis and, with an impressive final spurt, led the club to promotion and even to the Bundesliga 2 championship. However, Büskens made it clear that he would not be available as a permanent solution as head coach.
