EGOT status for Jennifer Hudson: After winning the Tony Awards, she has now won the four most important US awards.

The exclusive EGOT Club has a new member. Jennifer Hudson (40) is the 17th person to win the four most important US entertainment awards: Emmy (television), Grammy (music), Oscar (film) and Tony (stage). On Sunday, the singer picked up the coveted Tony Award for producing the musical “A Strange Loop” in New York.

Jennifer Hudson won her awards for these works

In 2006 she was awarded the Oscar for best supporting actress in the film musical “Dreamgirls”. Two years earlier she had celebrated her breakthrough as a singer in the talent show “American Idol”. The first Grammy came in 2009. Jennifer Hudson won the Music Award for Best R for her self-titled debut album

An illustrious circle

After Whoopi Goldberg (66), Jennifer Hudson is only the second Black woman to win the EGOT. At 40 years and nine months, the all-rounder is also the third youngest person to achieve this status. Only John Legend (43) and Robert Lopez (47) were younger at 39 years.

Other members of the EGOT Club include legends such as Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993), Mel Brooks (95) and Andrew Lloyd Webber (74).
