After months of casting, Madonna is said to have found the perfect actress for her biopic: “Inventing Anna” star Julia Garner.

Madonna (63) has finally found herself: As several media reports, the Queen of Pop wants to cast the lead role for her own biopic with Julia Garner (28). Garner, who recently caused a sensation in “Inventing Anna” on Netflix, is said to have won the casting for the Universal production. The industry journal “Variety” claims to have learned that she was offered the role. However, it is not known at what stage the negotiations with Garner are currently.

The search for the perfect cast had previously dragged on for months. Twelve actresses are said to have been shortlisted and spent days meeting with Madonna herself and her choreographers. It is said that they had to prove themselves in choreographies, dance, singing and reading lessons. Florence Pugh (28), Odessa Young (24) and Alexa Demie (31) were among those in talks for the role.

Madonna will also direct the biopic and co-write the screenplay about her life. Speaking on the “Tonight” show with Jimmy Fallon (47) in October last year, she revealed: “The reason I’m doing this is because a few people have tried to make a film about me, but it’s always been men. ” Announcing the biopic, Madonna said she wanted to share her incredible journey “that life has taken me on as an artist, musician, dancer – a person trying to navigate this world”.

Garner has received two Emmys for her role in the drama series “Ozark” and should be known to all Netflix customers at least since her portrayal of the imposter Anna Sorokin in “Inventing Anna”. The role of Madonna would be the biggest film role that the young actress has landed to date.
