At first glance, the pre-printed, slightly pixelated images are reminiscent of “painting by numbers”. However, the motifs do without color: small crystal stones are used in diamond painting to create mosaic-like works of art.

Whether landscapes or animals, works of art or still lifes – Diamond Painting offers countless motifs for children and adults with different levels of difficulty. However, the principle always remains the same: The colored crystal stones are placed on numbered fields with a special pen and remain there (due to the sticky surface or with the help of wax). Depending on the manufacturer, round and square “diamonds” are available, with the former being more suitable for beginners. In the following, we present motifs for different age groups that are not only fun, but should also improve fine motor skills.

Instructions: You should pay attention to this in advance

Before you get to work, you should consider a few points: With diamond painting, the motifs are often covered with a thin foil – it protects the fields from drying out. In order for your stones to stick to the fields, it is important that you do not completely remove the foil beforehand. Instead, it is advisable to only expose small areas that you want to work on. This will give you the adhesiveness of the remaining fields. The scope of delivery usually includes, in addition to the picture, a diamond painting pen, a tray or small bowls for separating the colored stones. You can also use tweezers to change the fixed position of the already glued mosaics afterwards.

Diamond painting for children: 5 animal motifs

1. Forest dwellers

The degree of difficulty increases with the size and complexity of a motif. Small pictures are therefore suitable for small children to practice: This set contains ten different forest creatures including a pen and tablet.

2. Dog puppies

Children who are a little more experienced with diamond painting (the recommended age is six years) can try this cute motif: the puppies make a 31 by 41 centimeter picture.

3. Horses

This motif is just right for children who love horses: the two animals form a 30 by 40 centimeter work of art. In addition to the stones, the scope of delivery includes a diamond painting pen, a wax and a tray.

4. lion

This lion motif for children from the age of eight is even more challenging: the 45 x 35 centimeter canvas has room for an impressive 21,840 stones. These are attached with a wax that is included in the scope of delivery.

5. Owl

In contrast to the other works of art, this one consists of different mosaics: There are round, oval and teardrop-shaped rhinestones. Put together, they result in a 40 by 40 centimeter shimmering owl motif.

4. Ginkgo

Anyone who prefers floral motifs is better served with this picture: the 40 by 50 centimeter large ginko is composed of square stones – and is therefore less suitable for beginners.

5. Amazon

This mystical motif is a good choice for enthusiastic fans of fantasy: it shows an Amazon together with its bald eagle. The stones and suitable tools are included.
