“Cancelled for lack of independence”: Many stars protested the US abortion ruling on July 4th.
In June, the US Supreme Court overturned the previous national right to abortion. The decision triggered a political earthquake. Numerous citizens, including many celebrities, were appalled. And also on “Independence Day”, the national holiday of the United States, which is celebrated every year on July 4th, many stars expressed criticism.
Reality TV personalities Kim Kardashian, 41, and Kris Jenner, 66, along with other celebrities, summarily “cancelled” July 4th this year in light of the Supreme Court’s recent decision to reverse the 1973 landmark Roe v. Wade decision . Many other stars also took to social media to address the disconnect between Independence Day and the lack of independence women have after making controversial decisions about their own bodies.

A post was shared on the social media channels of Kim Kardashian and numerous other well-known women such as “Succession” star J. Smith-Cameron (64) stating: “July 4th was canceled due to a lack of Independence canceled. Sincerely, women”.
Meanwhile, singer Katy Perry (37) tweeted in relation to her hit “Firework” (“Fireworks”): Women in the United States have “fewer rights” than a “sparkler”. Actress Jessica Chastain, 45, tweeted a photo of herself showing off her two middle fingers: “Happy ‘Independence Day’ from me and my reproductive rights,” she sarcastically captioned the post.
“New Girl” star Zooey Deschanel, 42, posed on social media in a T-shirt that reads “Pro Roe 1973.” “When you wish America a happy birthday but also want her to be better,” she captioned the snap. And in an Instagram story by film star Diane Kruger (45) you can read: “Not much to celebrate America” (“Not much to celebrate America”).
