“Squid Game” not only gets a second season. Netflix has also announced a reality show adaptation of the hit.

Nobody should die here, but a new format based on the Netflix hit “Squid Game” promises high tension. The streaming service turns the mega-success into a reality competition. 456 real people will rise to the challenge in “Squid Game: The Challenge”. Whoever is left at the end gets 4.56 million US dollars, the equivalent of almost 4.4 million euros.

According to Netflix, it is said to be the reality show with the most participants that has ever made it onto the TV screen or is creating. There has also never been such a high prize money. New games inspired by the template are waiting for the opponents in ten episodes.

Casting for “Squid Game: The Challenge” is already underway

The casting for candidates has already started. Apparently anyone who speaks English, is at least 21 years old and has time for the filming can apply on the “squidgamecasting.com” website. These are expected to take place in early 2023 and can apparently last up to four weeks.

It is not yet clear whether eliminated participants may face a special penalty. A defeat will at least not cost the candidates their lives as in the template. The application website assures that “all players will come out unscathed”.

“Squid Game” is the most successful series shown on Netflix to date. In the first 28 days after the episodes appeared, a total of more than 1.6 billion viewing hours were accumulated last year. Netflix had just officially announced the second season of the series. According to series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk (51), the new episodes are in the works. It is not yet clear when they will appear. According to previous reports, it could be in 2023 or 2024.
