Werner Hansch turns 84 in August. In an interview he says that at his age he no longer plans for the long term.

For sports fans, Werner Hansch (83) is one of the best-known voices in the country. He has just retired in Gelsenkirchen and will be celebrating his 84th birthday in mid-August. “I no longer make long-term plans,” says the legend of the commentator in an interview with the “Bild” newspaper. Some would say “that I’ll be at least 90 years old,” explains Hansch, “but I expect to only have enough strength for three more years.” But he still has one wish.

“I would like to play again as an actor in a film or a series,” he continues. The 83-year-old can remember texts “at least quite well”. In an audition he was even “shortlisted” recently, but he didn’t get the role after all. In the past decades, Hansch has occasionally appeared in various productions. He had roles in the 1983 film “The Heartbreakers” and two years later in the TV movie “Alles Paletti”.

Meanwhile, reality TV lovers know him as a participant in “Celebrity Big Brother”, where he was able to snag victory in the summer of 2020. “Of course it’s nice for me that I was physically able to meet these sometimes relatively tough requirements,” Hansch said after his success in an interview with the news agency spot on news, among other things. “It was an adventure that I embarked on and am glad I went through.”
