Finally it can start: The shooting of the third season of “Bridgerton” has begun, as Lady Whistledown divulges.

It will still be some time before the Netflix hit “Bridgerton” returns to the screens with new episodes. However, the streaming service announced with a short clip on July 20 that the third season is now officially being filmed. The short video includes Luke Newton (29) and Nicola Coughlan (35), about whom everything should revolve in the fresh episodes.

Although other actors also appear, the main focus of the video – as with the episodes – is on Newton and Coughlan. The latter opens the door to a carriage in which his colleague is sitting. “The shooting of the third season has officially started,” she explains to the camera before he takes his seat in the carriage.

“The Story of Colin and Penelope”

The third season is particularly about the love life of Lady Whistledown or Penelope Featherington (Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Newton), as the actress announced in mid-May. She wrote on Instagram: “Like Lady Whistledown, I’ve been keeping a pretty big secret for a while… But I can finally tell you that season 3 of ‘Bridgerton’ will be the story of Colin and Penelope.”

In May it was also announced that Hannah Dodd (27) will replace her colleague Ruby Stokes as Francesca Bridgerton. Stokes will instead appear in the Netflix series Lockwood

It is not yet clear when Netflix will show the new season. Meanwhile, the series can hope for up to three awards at this year’s Emmy Awards. The production is nominated for Best Hairstyling and Costume Design in a Drama Series with a Historical Setting. As the voice of Lady Whistledown, Julie Andrews (86) may also be able to win one of the prizes. The 74th Emmy Awards will take place on September 12th.
