since 1 January 2021, the Northern fleet will become an independent military-administrative unit. A decree on Friday was signed by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, reported on the portal of legal information.
for the First time in the history of the state a separate fleet will be equal in status to the military district. Units of the Northern fleet, located within the administrative boundaries of the Komi Republic, Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions, Nenets Autonomous district.
As explained in the Ministry of defense of Russia, the reform will enhance the interaction for the decision of tasks of protection of borders in the Arctic.
